The Gonstead Approach
We can help you with our Holistic Chiropractic Care to unlock your innate healing potential
The holistic approach to spine health considers the way our spines are impacted by many factors and how they all play a role in health and wellness. The benefits of looking at spine health holistically are numerous, and regular visits can help with the following:
✦ Free up the scar tissue and restore the function to the joints due to old injuries and accidents
✦ Reduces strain from everyday physical activity
✦ Helps relieve common sports injuries and strain
✦ Reduce formation of scar tissue when a new injury occurs such as an accident
✦ Reduce damage caused by recent sport injuries
✦ Boost your innate health by removing nerve interference in the spine

All problems start with the disc
What you see here is a cross section of the disc. The blue area are the disc fibers. The red is the nucleus. When the disc has an injury, the nucleus can push and tear through the outer fibers. This results in a ”back problem” and if we are lucky enough back pain to tell us something is wrong.

What nerve pressure looks like
This is a picture of an injured disc pushing on a soft nerve. This is what we want to fix as chiropractors because it is the root cause of spinal problems.

All organs are controlled by nerves
All of these pictures on the left are the organs and there is a nerve going to the spine. 93 % of the nerve is for function and only 7% represents pain fibers. Your health may decline because of nerve interference and you may not even feel it!

Here are some frequently asked questions to help you understand Chiropractic care
Chiropractic care is a health care profession based on interactions of the spine and nervous system, as well as the surrounding muscles.
Yes. Doctors of Chiropractic (also known as chiropractors) are not medical doctors, but go through a similar education process to become licensed in the field of chiropractic care. In fact, educational requirements for chiropractors are among the most stringent of any health care profession.
Dr Gregg accepts most patients but there are exceptions. Because people are coming from far distances in hope of healing, he wants to make sure he doesn’t waste people’s time and money. And an upload button for them to submit reports and pictures of X-raysAlthough you may get to the chiropractor because of pain and ill health, it doesn’t mean that all it is limited to. Getting adjusted (term used to describe the treatment), eating well, and exercise are all part of creating health and longevity. Eventually Dr Gregg wants a room full of healthy patients getting routine adjustments to maintain peak performance and healthThe joints are made up of muscles, ligaments, tendons, blood vessels and nerve tissue. It takes a good diagnostician to know how to approach every individual case. Chiropractors are experts of the spine. And the disc between the bone is what we want to help the body fix.
Chiropractors are known for their expertise in caring for patients with back pain, neck, pain, and headaches, but are not limited to any one specific complaint. Chiropractors such as Dr Gregg, who has an in-depth understanding of physiology, will tend to want to help the patient with any condition that is presented to them. The benefits of chiropractic care go beyond this and extend into general health as our core body structure affects overall function and health.
A chiropractic adjustment is the art of using a specific, controlled force in a precise direction that is applied to a spinal joint not moving properly or “locked up.” The purpose of this natural and safe procedure is to correct structural alignment and eliminate interference in the nervous system. For the patient, this means improved spinal function, reduction in pain, and an overall improvement in health and wellness.
Chiropractic manipulation is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort because minimal force and gentle pressure are used. In fact, most patients feel relief immediately following treatment. Any reported soreness after an initial adjustment has been described as similar to that associated with starting a new exercise program. Drinking plenty of water, using an ice pack, and engaging in light stretching after your first visit can help ease any discomfort promote healing.
Chiropractic care is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of most back and neck problems. Spinal adjustments are extremely safe when performed by a licensed chiropractor.
The noises you hear resembling popping sounds are your joints releasing tiny pockets of air. A chiropractic adjustment does not affect the bones of either side of a joint; it affects the connective tissue that holds the joint together.
Each patient’s care is unique and therefore customized to meet their specific condition and needs. Your chiropractor will modify adjustments based on your size, weight, age and health condition.
For many, back pain can become chronic if left untreated. Chiropractic care has been shown to ease and even eliminate back pain for many patients.
Many pregnant women find that chiropractic adjustments improve the pregnancy experience and make delivery easier. Adjustments are adapted to accommodate the stage of pregnancy and the unique needs of each patient.
More than 80 percent of people experience lower back pain at some point in their lives. In fact, it is one of the most reported reasons people miss work and is the second most frequent reason patients visit the doctor.
Some procedures may require you to remove some pieces of clothing, however most do not. If you have any questions or concerns, bring them up immediately with your chiropractor.
Chiropractors are trained to adjust in a very specific location and direction. As a result, it is virtually impossible to adjust oneself correctly and accurately.
